متن کاملStudy of Pulsatile Non-Newtonian Blood Flow Through Abdominal Aorta and Renal Arteries Incorporating Fluid- Structure Interaction
Background: The interaction between the blood and the vessel wall is of great clinical interest in studying cardiovascular diseases, the major causes of death in developed countries. Objective: To understand the effects of incorporating fluid-structure interaction into the simulation of blood flow through an anatomically realistic model of abdominal aorta and renal arteries reconstructed from CT...
متن کاملHead-up suspension in humans: effects on sympathetic vasomotor activity and cardiovascular responses.
We hypothesized that muscle sympathetic nerve activity (MSNA) and cardiovascular responses to the conventional head-up tilt (HUT) are different from those to head-up suspension (HUS) because of antigravity muscle activity. The MSNA from the tibial nerve, heart rate, blood pressure, stroke volume, cardiac output, and calf blood flow were measured in 13 healthy young subjects. Left atrial diamete...
متن کاملRole of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Postoperative Follow-Up After the Arterial Switch Operation for Transposition of the Great Arteries.
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (MR) plays a major role in the evaluation of patients with transposition of the great arteries, especially during follow-up after surgical intervention such as the arterial switch operation (ASO). It is recommended in recent guidelines that cardiovascular MR should be integrated in the routine evaluation of all postoperative patients with transposition of the g...
متن کاملCardiovascular parameters and catecholamines in volunteers during passive orthostasis. Influence of antihypotensive drugs.
To evaluate the therapeutic value of various antihypotensive agents we investigated amezinium (AMZ; CAS 30578-37-1), dihydroergotamine (DHE; CAS 511-12-6), midodrine (MDD; CAS 42794-76-3), and oxilofrine (OXF; CAS 365-26-4) in volunteers during passive orthostasis in a randomized double-blind study against placebo (PCB). Blood pressure, heart rate, and circulating catecholamines were determined...
